August saw the inaugural month for the IndieWeb Movie Club, a film themed blog carnival, for which the reaction from the community has been great and will hopefully continue for many months to come.
For the first month, I decided to pick The Matrix (1999) for a couple of reasons, firstly that it is 25 years since its release in cinemas, and also that I had a good feeling that it would be a film many in the community would have thoughts and feelings on.
September’s Movie Club is being hosted by Benji, who has selected When Harry met Sally (1989).

Sara’s post ponders on how the film reflects a person’s acceptance in society, drawing similarities with a book she is currently reading, and also contrasting it against how community and acceptance is portrayed in The Barbie Movie (perhaps a future movie club pick?)
Thanks Sara!

Benji discusses how this is a film that he’s watched many times since its first release in 1999, and highlights his favourite scene and quote within the film, along with a wish for matching the multi-monitor setup from the film.
Benji is also the host for September’s Movie Club, When Harry Met Sally
Cheers Benji!

Antonio reflects on how amongst other things, the phones depicted in the film while shown as a futuristic tech in 1999, is now viewed as nostalgic, and the significance between using a cell phone and landline factors into the plot.
He also discusses Neo and Trinity’s “meet cute” moment and how it compares to other movies.
Thanks Antonio!
